Megaman legends 3 - The Death of an Experiment

Now I won't be one too say that I was following this project from the get-go, seeing as how I have never even seen the two original installments, but that doesn't mean it wasn't a reason why I got a 3DS.

Mainly for the fact CAPCOM was using it as an experiment, they wanted to let fans behind the scenes, which honestly... was working until they stopped listening to what we had too say. Doesn't meet the criteria to be green-lit, really, that's your best corporate excuse? I am sorry but no, an excuse like that just doesn't cut it.


For starters, you don't cancel a project that you had fans send in their own personal work in for use in the game. Sure you say you'll compensate them for their work, but that really isn't enough. I have countless friends who have given up on supporting CAPCOM completely, because the game they have waited a decade for was cancelled without a reason other than "not the proper criteria".

Yes, I have never been part of a project like this, nor do I have any experience in the industry, but this makes no sense. If they really wanted this project to be successful they should have done more too actually get it green-lit! When you have a bunch of rabid fans waiting for a games release, and you let them in on the process, you should full well know... that cancelling that project will gain you more hatred than you'd wish.

What do I mean? Many people have given up on Megaman, and others have decided to boycott CAPCOM all together. Saying, this and Phoenix Wright x Layton is just too much, which in all honesty... it is.

The things CAPCOM could have done to make this more successful were simple.

1. Forget the business strategies for once, and listen to fans.
2. Ensure that if you promise a prototype, a paid one at that, then you must release it. Then gauge the reception of the game to decide whether or not the game is worth releasing.
3. Not make a big freaking deal of it, holding contests for fans, and even saying you'll release an early beta version of the game to "monitor fan reception"

You dun goofed CAPCOM, this was meant to be a project that could change game design, but all you did was give up midstream! There is no respect to be had for you at this point, and many would agree, if you didn't intend on releasing this game in the first place... you shouldn't' have made such a big deal of it.

People can argue with me all they like, but this post is all based on common sense, there isn't a thing I have said here that doesn't make sense.

I and many others are certainly curious as to why it didn't meet the proper criteria, it looked pretty damn good too all of us, so what gives?

If you truly wanted fan involvement, then we should have been a part of the green-lighting process as well. That means you ask our opinions and they influence the fate of the game, this is the problem with the industry, you are all worried about have a bad seller that no one takes risks.

What you have said to all of us is that Megaman Legends 3 and all the time and effort put into it by FANS, was worthless too you, that's all this has done. CAPCOM has made some horrible decisions this year, but this is by far the worst one yet, I just don't get what crtieria it didn't meet.

Not enough guns, for ya?
Too anime inspired?
The fact it was Megaman?

What was it? I mean you tell us no to a few games, then you pull a dick move with not being able to delete your saves in a game, now you cancel a fan oriented project.

Don't bite the hand that feeds you, because we, the fans, will bite back harder, faster, and continuously.
